About Us
The founders of R.A.D. Camps are Adam Sather and Eric Jackson, both of whom have lived in the Central Oregon area for eight years. During this time they have each spent the majority of their time in the summer hiking and backpacking the countless trails that Oregon has to offer. For the last eight winters, they have both been working with kids as snowboard coaches. Seeing a need to get the kids in Central Oregon out learning about the wilderness in a fun and safe manner, they came up with the idea of R.A.D. Camps!!
Adam Sather was born and raised in Springfield, Oregon to parents who were always taking him out hiking, fishing, and hunting. This is where Adam learned to love the outdoors and has caused him to pursue this lifestyle throughout his life. Moving to Bend to become a snowboard instructor in the fall of 2000, he has since spent the years working with kids in the winter and hiking during the summers. He currently maintains a job in the community of Bend with MBSEF (Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation) as the head coach of their competition travel snowboard team where he has built a reputation as a leader and positive role model.
Eric Jackson was born in Corvallis, Oregon, but was raised on the front range of Colorado where he lived for nineteen years. Eric's parents wanted to pass along their love of the wilderness and hiking to him, so they would take him out backpacking as much as possible. It worked because now it is Eric's passion to be out in the mountains enjoying the wilderness during the summer months. Moving to Bend in the fall of 2000, he was employed as a snowboard instructor during the winter and full time backpacker in the summer. Presently he works with MBSEF (Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation) as the head coach of their development snowboard program. He is also a calm water river guide in the Sunriver area during the summer.
Both Adam and Eric have unique personalitys that enable them to connect with people and that kids can easily relate to. By starting R.A.D. Camps, they hope to give back to the community by providing an opportunity for kids to get out and enjoy all that Oregon has to offer and learn about the wilderness in the process!
