If your child has participated in R.A.D. Camps in the past, but they are too old to register for our regular camp trips, consider getting them into our Guide in Training program (GIT)! Becoming a GIT is a great way to spend more time outside being RAD and also lets older kids (13-18) join in on trips outside of our once-weekly Teen Vans.
Summer Camp Guides in Training Program
As a GIT, kids will take on more responsibility through group management, situation assessment, and conflict resolution. They will work directly with their Lead Guide to ensure that all RAD campers have a great day outside. GITs will help facilitate activities such as swimming, building forts, or playing games, all while being an extra set of eyes and ears for the Lead Guide.
We are looking for GITs who have always dreamed of being a RAD Guide, and who have insider knowledge of RAD Camps from past participation. Our GITs will get a free seat in the van on their co-guiding days, which can be up to twice per week as availability allows. Our GITs will kick off the summer by joining our RAD Guides for a training day in mid-June, and then gain experience by leading daily trips into the National Forests of Central Oregon. By completing 5 days or more of guiding with us, GITs will officially graduate the program, earn some fun swag, and gain some great experiences in the process!
